HomeMANUAL DESCRIPTIONS

MANUAL DESCRIPTIONS

There are three basic kinds of manuals:

What KIND of MANUAL do you need for your machine or equipment? Each manual serves a distinct purpose for your machine.

Operator Manual

Also called an owners manual, instruction book, handbook or handuchen. This type of manual has information on how to safely operate and use the machine. Usually includes basic maintenance, safety information and specifications. The same manual that would have come with the machine when delivered new.

Parts Manual

Sometimes called a parts book, parts catalog, parts catalogue, or spare parts list. This is the same manual used by the representative at your dealer's parts counter. Parts manuals have exploded views of all parts, their relationship and location. Usually these manuals also include the part number and a brief description.

Service Manual

Also called a shop, repair, workshop, tech and technical manual. The service manuals tell you how to repair the machine, remove parts, rebuild and replace the machine. Some are very detailed original dealer manuals while others are shortened versions or for specific areas of repair. Many of the newer tractor service manuals, do not include the engines; they are found in separate books. Please check the description of the manual for more information.

Other Types of Manuals:

I&T Service Manual

These manuals are made for tractors and have been published since the early 1950's and are still available today. I&T service manuals are not equivalent to a full dealer manual but are cheaper to buy.

Operation & Test Manual

Operation and Test manuals are usually made by John Deere and tell you how to figure out which component is causing the problem. However, these manuals do not usually tell you how to repair the item.

Diagnostics Manual

Usually these manuals are from John Deere. Diagnostic manuals help diagnose the problem. Diagnostics manuals usually contain electrical and hydraulic schematics. Unfortunately, these manuals rarely contain actual repair information.

Schematics

Schematic manuals are produced by many companies, these manuals are usually fold out plans/diagrams of electrical and/or hydraulic systems. Schematic manuals contain no repair information.
